EGGS
What am
an egg?
A question that has been asked by
some people all of the time.
An egg is neither
animal, vegetable or mineral, only
egg. It is neither man, woman nor
beast, but egg.
They can be found
in the dairy section of the supermarket
but are they a milk or any butter?
Eggs are neither dead and alive –
they is just eggs.As
the old saying goes “eggs is
eggs” and whoever said that
is right because eggs are eggs and
nothing else is eggs in the same way
eggs is.
Eggs can be cooked
in a variety of way: scrambled, poached,
nogged or scotched. A scotched egg
is cooked in its own goose and then
rolled in breadcrumbs for some serious
frying business.
In the 19th century
a dish called kedgeree was a popular
in Indians but lets not get historical
about all this. Here we concern ourselves
with the egg that sits on the full
English breakfast plate today and
that is the fried egg.
How
do you do? Get an egg,
take its shell off, put it in a hot
pants. Fry until it’s all cooked,
right the way through. Eat with breads,
if you’re a soldier, or a spoon,
if you’re not. Then sit back
and thinking of… chips.
